Reason #325:
I love this photo of her because it is from a specific era of my mother I often forget about. I’m referring almost exclusively to her hair. I love this look, with the full-head curls and the bangs that I would tragically adopt for the entirety of middle school.
For me, my mom’s hair can be broken down into six memorable eras: The Curl Helmet (pictured), The Princess Diana, The Classic Flip, The “What’s Going On? Where’s The Flip?” No-Flip Cut, The Bald Period, and her final era, Short & Gray. I don’t know if my mother ever believed us when we told her this, but she looked beautiful with her short, gray hair. It looked like a choice and I thought she was just radiant.
I have less pictures of my mother from the Curl Helmet era and I love looking back at them. It’s also crazy to think that in this picture she is thirty-two, an age that a lot of my friends are right now. At thirty-two she had already lived so much; she had three children and had met the President and First Lady of the United States.
The other thing I love about this picture is that me and my mother are wearing almost the exact same sweater. And I think my littlest sister is noticing.
