Reason #329:
My dad was often coming up with new things he thought would be fun. Oftentimes, it was the rest of the family’s job to respond with, “No, that would not be fun.”
One of those times was when my dad thought it would be fun for him and my mom to go out and ride a bicycle built for two. I remember my mom’s friend Bonnie teasing my mom, saying, “Oh Joanne, you are not gonna go out there and pedal around on a bicycle built for two!”
But she did. And they had a really good time. I really liked that she was eventually up for it, even though everyone else was making fun of the idea. And this is sort of how things normally went; my dad would suggest something we decided was lame, we would make fun of him for it, and then she (and we) would all cave and end up enjoying ourselves.
