Reason #336:
She was obsessed with this rare chocolate bar only sold in the midwest called Nut Goodies.
Not having it readily available to her was one of my mother’s greatest struggles throughout most her adult life. Sure, she loved California in that she raised her children there and all of her best friends and beloved co-workers lived there. But not a single Nut Goodie was to be found in the whole state, and for that, she wept.
Every time she went to Minnesota, she stocked up on them, and when us children would go back without her, we knew it was our responsibility to bring her back as many Goodies as we could. On my mom’s last birthday, my sister Janelle ordered something like fifty Nut Goodies and had them shipped straight to the house. Come to think of it, I only got to eat one of those! Janelle, what’s going on? What happened to them Goodies!?
I can’t wait to go back to Minnesota in two weeks and have a Nut Goodie in her memory. She’d like nothing more.

Hi,
Your posts are truly amazing and your mom sounds like a fantastic person. Also, I live in Minnesota and I had no clue that Nut Goodies were exclusive to the midwest. I think you should just keep posting things even when the year is up.
