Reasons I Love My Mother

Hi there.

My name is Chris Kelly, and I am a writer, comedian and actor that lives in New York City. But more importantly, I am the son of a pretty great mom.

She was diagnosed with cancer a couple of years ago, and in June of 2009, I decided to start compiling a list of 365 Reasons Why I Love My Mother.

I lived with my mother her last few months, and during the hard, sad times, I found this website helpful in focusing on the good and the happy.

My mom passed away on September 27th, 2009. She was a lovely person to have known and a lovely mother to have had.

Here are just 365 reasons why.

  • Reason #350:
My younger cousin Brooke (seen above, giving the thumbs up) is studying Interior Design at the Art Institute in Minneapolis beginning in the fall. Ever since she was really little, she has always been a great artist. So as I talked to her tonight about her beginning college there in the fall, I kept thinking about how proud my mom would be of her.
When Brooke was still in elementary school, she would make things for my mom and give them to her, and I loved that my mom not only kept them, but put them up. On the counter in her bathroom where she got ready each day, my mom kept a framed drawing Brooke made for her, and on the wall at the base of our stairs she hung a sign that Brooke had made.
My mom really loved Brooke - as she did her whole family, obviously - and I thought it was neat that she kept and displayed so much of her art.
